Picking the perfect venue!

When preparing for an event, one of the most crucial (if not THE MOST crucial) aspects of planning is picking a venue. Choosing the right location can make or break the success of an event; even a small oversight can cause major setbacks for all attendees.

Researching meeting destinations and negotiating with venues can be time consuming, overwhelming and in many cases, it is difficult to know if you are really getting a good deal. Here are the top three ways to select the ideal destination for your next event, without breaking the bank, or your head!

1. Theme
Make sure that your site selection perfectly frames the central theme of your event. This may seem a bit self-explanatory, but with a detailed and specific concept in mind, knowing where to begin will be much easier. Although it’s not mandatory, having a theme in mind will help keep the event planning more focused and ultimately will save time in the planning process and research by limiting the number of inadequate venues to sort through. Which leads us to our next practice…

2. NO is just as good as YES
Don’t be afraid to say no! Part of choosing the right venue is knowing what you don’t want. We suggest that you question and negotiate with vendors in order to accommodate your needs. Denying a venue is about as good as considering one, it allows you to narrow down your choices and define specifically what you want. Remember never settle!

3. Location, Location, Location
Transportation costs can become a large part of your event spends if your venue’s location is not chosen carefully. Venues that are selected in close proximity to public transportation can limit attendee travel time, increase attendance of offsite activities, and decrease costs. Be sure to also remain consistent with the image you are trying to portray, you do not want the location to take away from the overall theme.

Overall, be sure to do plenty of research and seek various opinions, don’t settle and take the surroundings into consideration. With these tips, you’re well on your way to securing the perfect venue to bring your vision to life and eliminate a significant amount of stress (and unexpected costs) leading up to your event. Cheers to that!

Work it out Wednesdays – Get in Shape for your Big Day!

It’s so common that as women we become overwhelmed with all of our daily tasks that we tend to forgot some of the important things that need to be done.  For instance, for all our Brides-to-be, if you are the midst of planning your wedding, odds are that as you’re stressing over centerpieces, looking for a photographer, dealing with your bridesmaids and everything in between.  The last thing on your mind is considering what you’ll look like to your nearest and dearest as they stare at your backside on your way down the aisle.  Can you feel me on this one?

According to a Brides.com 2006 American Wedding Study, out of 2.3 million American Weddings, only 80% of the brides and over half of the wedding party & family members will take steps to change their eating or exercise habits for the big day.  And hopefully if you are reading this you will be one of them!  If not, let’s work on getting that percentage up…not only for your wedding day, but for your future and that of your children and future generations.

I’m not saying that if you are not a fitness model for your wedding day, that you won’t be a beautiful bride.  I think ALL women are beautiful no matter their weight, or shape!  Everyone is entitled to make the decision about whether or not to work out and/or eat right on their own.  No one wants to witness a Carb-free wife-to-be lose her mind over place settings at the rehearsal dinner, because from experience I know that this can be an ugly sight!!  One of the main reasons I believe eating right and working out are important is because this is an ultimate CONFIDENCE BOOSTER…oh and it would feel so cool to have people stare at a HOT back side walking down that aisle!  ;o)

Your engagement time should be an amazing time in your relationship transition.  Both your mind and your body are going to be running on overdrive from the moment you said Yes to the ring until you’ve said good-bye to your last guest after your reception.  So get your heart rate up, work those muscles to the max, and eat healthy to kick your brain into the “I’m a HOT Bride!” mode.  Just remember that making time for regular workouts can keep you focused and feeling great about yourself.  So what’s better way to start your new life?

I am sure you have a ton of other things that you are worried about in the process of wedding planning, so you are probably wondering why/how or when you will be able to focus on staying fit!

Ask yourself – IF NOT NOW, THEN WHEN???  Start today by visiting our recent Work it out Wednesday Bootcamp postings:

Check out some of this years Wedding Trends

When we design events, especially weddings, we try to go out of our way to incorporate memorable details in every aspect. Personally, I think that adding a hint of memorabilia to your wedding will set your wedding apart from the other weddings your guests have attended. Here are some of the trends we’ve noticed in 2013 that are just small personalized touches which really go a long way 😉

  • Vintage Frame Escort Cards – Using frames as escort cards holders and/or favors is nothing new, but taking time to select a special variety of small frames takes an old idea up several notches. Plus, this certainly makes for a beautiful display. Just keep in mind that this can get a little pricey so if it doubles up as a souvenir for your guests, it makes better financial sense.
  • Personalized Menu Cards – In my opinion, no wedding table is complete without menu cards – and these are such a unique way to showcase what each guest will be served. These can be dressed up or down depending on the style of your event as well.
  • Votive Candles – Adding Votive candle whether they are plain, monogrammed, or even engraved with a design, tends to add a romantic feel to the room
  • Monogrammed Cupcakes – This idea creates a wonderful opportunity to add excitement to your decor while also offering a sweet treat. It’s a great “Thank you” gift for your guests and would look awesome as part of an elegant dessert or candy bar that matches your wedding colors.
  • Be playful! – Weddings can be a little stuffy, so don’t be afraid to add a little twist by hiring a photo booth company to bring in a photo booth with some props. Your guests will walk away with memories of an awesome evening.
  • Signature Cocktails – Try to create your signature drink, give them special names like “Yosi’s Pink Paradise” or as a twist to your champagne toast, add cotton candy to it. You can pull your wedding colors into this idea as well. Your guests will love it and will get to try your favorite drinks.
